Woman Pronounced Dead after Pedestrian Hit-and-Run Collision near Mt. Hood Street
LAS VEGAS, NV (January 25, 2023) – A hit-and-run collision on East Lake Boulevard Saturday morning killed one and Joanna Meza was arrested.
The accident occurred at 4:25 a.m. at the intersection of E. Lake Boulevard and Mt. Hood Street. per initial reports.
According to the NHP, a silver 2000 Toyota Avalon driver struck a pedestrian crossing the street and fled the scene.
Despite life-saving efforts, paramedics pronounced the pedestrian dead on the scene. Officials only described the victim as a 24-year-old North Las Vegas woman at this time.
Meanwhile, officials were able to locate the driver, identified as 19-year-old Joanna Meza, and arrested her with hit-and-run charges.
Both directions of the roadway were temporarily shut down to allow for cleanup and preliminary duties.
