Bay Area News Group girls high school athlete of the week: McKenzie Bell, Piedmont Hills volleyball

Piedmont Hills volleyball player McKenzie Bell is the Bay Area News Group’s girls high school athlete of the week for Sept. 12-17 after she received 19,176 votes (41.34%) by the 5 p.m. deadline Wednesday.

Bell finished a few percentage points ahead of Aragon volleyball player Hunter Kwan, who finished second with 18,007 votes (38.82%).

Valley Christian golfer Joyce Zhang finished third.

The senior libero was a force to be reckoned with in Piedmont’s matchup against Lincoln. Bell had 23 kills on 53 attack attempts, and had 18 digs too as Piedmont won 3-1.
